BELOW IS A LETTER AND PRESS RELEASE FROM LOS ALTOS HOUNDS
Dear Pacific District Hunt Friends,
On Saturday April 7, 2007 Los Altos Hounds hosted the MFHA Centennial Field Hunter Championship Pacific District Qualifier. What a grand competition! Fourteen Pacific District competitors made a spectatcular showing. The turnout phase was very competitive and the judges did an excellent job choosing the Best Turned Out. The sweep and beauty of the green Los Altos hills was a perfect backdrop for the mock hunt and individual test. The results are listed below.
On behalf of Los Altos Hounds, I would to thank everyone involved for an extremely successful weekend. The event ran as smoothly as we could have antipated with our combined effort and dedication. We were proud that the Pacific District turned out such a spectacular showing. It was fun for us to come together given that the distances traveled are signifcant out west, with Santa Fe traveling 7 hours, Red Rock a good 5 hours and Santa Ynez Valley Hunt 3 hours. It also gave us the opportunity to strengthen our links with MFHA, giving us a renewed understanding that we uphold the traditions of a sport that is enjoyed across the US.
Paul Cronin, Penny Denegre and Viviane Warren helped officiate. We all enjoyed meeting our Virginia friends and hope that our paths cross in the future. As Surtees wrote in the 1830's of Jorrocks: "Tell me a man's a foxhunter and I loves him at once."
